- 1 red onion, sliced
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Balsamic Vinegar
- 2 tbsp of butter OR 2 tbsp bacon drippings (I make breakfast and reserve the drippings for certain recipes. Not the healthiest, but it’s delicious!)
1. Heat up your butter (or bacon grease) on medium high heat in a large skillet. I use cast iron. I feel like the onions brown better.
2. Add in the Balsamic Vinegar, onions, and toss the brown sugar on top. Stir well to coat all the onions. Let them simmer for about a minute. Keep stirring until all sides are brown (slightly charred).
3. The onions should take 5-7 minutes total. Don’t let them burn! Cutting your onions the same size ensures they cook the same. It will prevent the smaller onions from burning. Enjoy!
